Structural integration
What is it?
Structural Integration is the manipulation of the soft
tissue
(muscle and connective tissue), mainly the connective tissue or
Fascia, to organize their relationships, with the objective of
realigning the body structurally.
Conditions it addresses
Fascia is the very thin, very strong sheath that encases and positions every
internal part of the body. It is located between the skin and the
underlying structure of muscle and bone. It is a
seamless web of
connective tissue that covers and
connects the muscles, organs, and skeletal structures in our body. Muscle and
fascia are united forming the myofascial system. Over time due to
different types of trauma to the body, the types of
activity or inactivity, this Fascia tends to contract and stay in this
bound up state, causing discomfort or pain and a
restriction in range of motion.
How does it work
Structural integration is
a set of slow and deep
manipulations designed for each part of the body, to free up
this bound-up fascia. Not only does this technique restore the normal
length, flexibility and overall function of Fascia, but also helps relieve
pain that comes with the restriction in range of motion. After a
complete regiment of this technique clients can stand up straighter, gain in
height, and bodily asymmetries of the soft tissue tend to disappear.
