Trigger Point Therapy

A Massage for relief from Chronic Muscle Pain

If you think muscle pain and tightness and diminishing Range of Motion (ROM) is just the aging process, then Think Again! Over the years due to accidents, sports injuries, physical exertion etc., a muscle or group of muscles may be traumatized.  The muscle pain after the trauma might diminish, but if the correct restorative therapy is not used, the muscle tightness will persist.  With continued use of the muscle group, the muscle tightness will increase and and turn into chronic pain.  That feeling of muscle tightness and pain is probably familiar to you.  Perhaps you have neck and shoulder pain, or discomfort when walking or standing, caused by tight and painful muscles in your low back.  These are the 2 most commonly affected areas.

There is a therapy that is most effective  in bringing you pain relief and restoration of Range of Motion.  The technique is Trigger Point Therapy (TPT) which is a type of Neuromuscular Therapy.  It treats points on the muscle that actually control the muscle pain and tightness . For a detailed explanation of the pain process and how trigger point therapy  works go to the TREATMENTS Page

Muscle trauma from overuse or injury saturates the muscle tightness over time and not only turns to chronic muscle pain but also shortens and thickens the muscle. The tightness of the different layers of muscles compresses blood vessels and nerves that run through and in between the tight muscles, causing more pain and restricted blood supply to surrounding areas.  This can cause a chain reaction and a self perpetuating pain cycle that is controlled by trigger points.  Trigger point therapy finds and deactivates these hypersensitive points and relieves the muscle tension to restore the muscle tone closer to its healthy and efficient state. Healthy muscles should be relaxed and of normal length when not active. Chronic muscle pain is a symptom of saturated tension of the affected muscle, and this pain is relieved with the release of the tension.  For a detailed list of benefits from Trigger Point treatment go to  the BENEFITS page .

Before your treatment, your condition and history will be carefully evaluated.  Your concerns and goals will also be addressed.  You will be invited to share any feedback, comments or questions during the session.  The technique depends on accuracy in locating the Trigger Points for best results.  To achieve this there will be a close communication between the trigger point therapist and the client.  Visit the Testimonials page to see what my clients are saying.

Having traced the trigger point, systematic pressure is used to slowly “dissolve” it, which subsequently relieves the pain and tension in the muscle tissue.  Depending on the degree of the muscle tension and the frequency of treatment, all traces of pain and discomfort can be removed.  With the resting muscle tone restored in all the affected muscle groups, it is possible to be totally pain free again.

The best part of this treatment is that, unlike traditional Trigger Point therapy which is very painful, I have developed the treatment to be PAINLESS, and with better results.  This technique can also be combined with SWEDISH, ESALEN and DEEP TISSUE to make the experience pleasurable and rejuvenating.
